The best time to visit Kashmir, often referred to as Paradise on Earth, depends on the experiences you seek and your personal preferences. The region experiences distinct seasons, each offering unique attractions and activities.
For most travelers looking for a balanced experience, the ideal time to visit Kashmir is during the summer months from June to August. The weather is pleasant, making most attractions open and easily accessible. However, if your focus is on winter sports or enjoying the breathtaking landscapes covered in snow, then the winter months are perfect. Additionally, spring and autumn offer enchanting experiences with vibrant blooming flowers and stunning foliage, appealing to those who appreciate natural beauty.
After complimentary pick-up at Srinagar Airport between 12:00 PM and 02:00 PM, depart for the hotel. We offer deluxe accommodations in Srinagar, but if a tourist prefers to stay in a houseboat, prior notification is required, along with a price adjustment. If you choose the houseboat option, meals will need to be arranged at our designated location at your own expense, or you can pay for dinner and breakfast on the houseboat. (Tourists arriving on flights after the specified times must arrange their transportation to the hotel independently and at their own expense.) For timely arrivals, complimentary lunch will be provided by the company.
At 8:00 AM, after a tea-breakfast, depart for Dudh Pathri (approximately 45 km / 2 hours). Upon arrival, explore the local sites and tourist points in Dudh Pathri. Afterward, return to the Srinagar hotel for lunch or high tea at 3 PM, followed by some rest and shopping if time permits.
Leave Srinagar for Sonmarg after 8:30 AM (approximately 80 km / 3 hours). Upon arrival at the hotel, visit Thajivas Glacier after lunch (by horse at your own expense). Due to heavy snowfall and extreme cold, stays in Sonmarg will be arranged only if feasible from November 15 to March 31. The road from Gandharbal to Sonmarg may be closed due to snow, and travel will need to be arranged at your own expense using a vehicle provided by the local union, costing approximately Rs. 2500 to Rs. 3500. This expense cannot be permanently included in the tour price, as such issues occur only 15 to 20 times a year.
After morning tea and breakfast, visit local attractions in Sonmarg, including Zero Point and Kargil Road, as well as Dhras Sector (taxi travel arranged through the local union will be at your own expense).
After morning tea and breakfast, leave for Gulmarg (approximately 120 km / 4 hours). Upon arrival, check in at the hotel and enjoy local sights and relaxation. During peak season, hotel owners in Gulmarg may raise room rates unexpectedly. If an overnight stay in Gulmarg is not feasible, accommodation will be provided in Srinagar, with a refund of Rs. 3000 per room per night for one couple. Special Note: The road from Tangmarg to Gulmarg may also be closed due to snow, requiring travel at your own expense with a local union vehicle costing between Rs. 2500 and Rs. 3500. This cost cannot be included in the tour price due to infrequent occurrences.
After morning tea and breakfast, enjoy a Gondola ride (rope-way) and then proceed to Khilanmarg. (Online tickets for the Gulmarg Ropeway should be booked by our office staff one month prior to the intended date through the website www.jammuandkashmircablecar.com at your own expense, selecting a time slot after 11 AM.) Tourists may not return on time for lunch due to the Gondola line and travel times in Gulmarg. Dinner and breakfast will be provided by the hotel during the two-night stay in Gulmarg. Responsibility for booking the ropeway tickets in Gulmarg lies solely with the traveler, and any bookings made cannot be canceled or refunded for any reason.
Travel from Gulmarg to Pahalgam (approximately 130 km / 4 hours). Upon arrival, rest at the hotel. (We aim to keep hotels in Pahalgam near major city centers or rafting points, resulting in slightly more average accommodations compared to Srinagar.) On the way from Srinagar to Pahalgam, the Pampore area features saffron fields and a cricket bat factory, so it's advisable not to spend too much time shopping to avoid being late for lunch in Pahalgam. After arrival, you can visit Baisharan by horse and Aru Valley by taxi (both at your own expense). (River rafting is not recommended due to safety concerns.)
From Pahalgam, return via local union taxi and enjoy visits to attractions like Betab Valley and Chandanwari at your own expense.
After breakfast at 6:30 AM, the tour concludes with a drop-off from Pahalgam to Srinagar Airport. If there are any changes to flight times, the traveler is responsible for reaching Srinagar Airport independently. Return flight tickets should be booked for after 2 PM. It's essential to arrive at the airport three hours before the flight, and if booking a flight for a cheaper rate, ensure you arrive at the airport at your own expense.
